Laser tattoo removal being carried out at Gia Laser Clinic in Birkenhead

How it works

A tattoo that no longer feels like you.

The laser breaks the ink into particles small enough for your body to clear away over the weeks that follow. It happens gradually, across a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart. How many you need depends on the size, the colours and how deep the ink sits.

  • Full removal, or fading enough for a cover-up.
  • Black ink clears most readily; some colours take longer.
  • SPMU and brow pigment removal also available.
  • Patch test before your first session.

Is it right for you?

You do not have to commit to the whole thing today.

Some people want a tattoo gone entirely. Others only want it faded enough that a new piece can cover it, which usually takes far fewer sessions. Both are fine, and the plan is different for each.

At your free suitability check Gia looks at the size, colours and depth of the ink and your skin type, does a patch test, and gives you an honest estimate of the sessions involved.

Tattoo removal treatment at Gia Laser Clinic

What happens

Before, during and after.

  1. Before. Gia assesses the tattoo and your skin type, carries out a patch test, and talks through how many sessions are realistic.
  2. During. The laser passes over the ink with a tingling, snapping sensation. Sessions usually run 10–30 minutes depending on size, with cooling used throughout.
  3. After. Redness and slight swelling for a few hours is normal. Keep the area moisturised, stay out of the sun, and follow the aftercare Gia gives you.

Why here

Why people choose this clinic.

One person, start to finish

Gia does your suitability check, your patch test and your treatment. You are not handed between people, and whoever assessed you is the person holding the machine.

Told honestly if it will not work

If a treatment is not right for your skin, your hair type or what you are hoping for, you will be told at the check — before you have paid for anything.

The price before you commit

Your exact price is confirmed at the suitability check. The £25 deposit that holds your slot comes off it, and there is nothing added afterwards.

Questions before you book

Tattoo removal: your questions answered.

Do I pay anything to book?

The suitability check itself is free. We ask for a £25 deposit to confirm your slot, and it comes off the price of your treatment. If the check shows the treatment is not right for you, the deposit is refunded in full. It is only kept if you do not turn up.

How many sessions will I need?

Commonly 6–12, spaced several weeks apart, depending on size, colour and how deep the ink sits. Fading for a cover-up usually takes fewer. Gia gives you a realistic number once she has seen it.

Does it hurt?

Most people compare it to an elastic band snapped against the skin. Sessions are short, and cooling is used to keep you comfortable.

Can every tattoo be removed?

Black ink responds most readily. Some colours are more stubborn and take longer, and a few are difficult to shift entirely. Gia will be straight with you about what to expect rather than promise a clean slate.

Can you remove permanent make-up?

Yes — SPMU and brow pigment removal is one of the treatments we offer. It is assessed the same way, with a patch test first, and quoted at your suitability check.

Are there side effects?

Temporary redness, swelling and occasionally blistering can happen. Gia gives you full aftercare instructions so the area heals properly.
